Questions people often ask
How much does counselling cost?
Sessions are £55 for 50 minutes, online or in person. Concessions may be available for students and those on a low income — please feel free to ask me about this.
Is everything confidential?
Yes. Everything you share is confidential, with a small number of legal and ethical exceptions (for example, serious risk of harm) which I explain clearly at the start. All sessions are completely confidential.
Do I need to be in crisis to come?
Not at all. Many people come because something feels off, heavy or stuck — not because of an emergency. You don't need to justify wanting support. (If you do need urgent help now, please contact Samaritans on 116 123 or call 999 in an emergency.)
How many sessions will I need?
It's different for everyone and I won't promise a number. Some people come for a short, focused piece of work; others stay longer. We review together regularly and you can stop at any time.
What if I don't know where to start?
That's completely normal, and you're in good company. You don't need a tidy story or the right words. We start wherever you are.
Do you offer online sessions?
Yes — I work online via secure video call, as well as in person in East Kent (near Ash) and in Folkestone at Lighthouse43.
Is asking for help selfish when others depend on me?
It isn't — though many carers and helpers feel that way. Taking care of yourself is what makes it possible to keep caring for others. Counselling is a space to finally put yourself first.
